I love Opposite Action. I use music a lot for this - playing upbeat music when I’m down, etc.

This is a lovely reminder Amber. We also can be so focused on the discourse on self-care and do XYZ thing to feel better that we may miss key information we already have about ourselves.

To go along with octopuses (unless you've moved on from them), have you read Remarkably Bright Creatures? One of my recent favorites. :)

Yes! I just recently finished it. One of my favorites this year.

This was beautiful 💕

My favorite playful ways to cope are to sing, dance, admittedly sometimes I talk in accents 🙋‍♀️, I LOVE swinging, and Archie lets me borrow a new stuffed animal every week (I started sleeping with one again when he was newborn. It helped me so much at night when I was scared to sleep…because I knew I wasn’t gonna get much of it)

Lots of rediscovering in the last few years. Thank goodness. I feel like it really saved me.

Practical question-How was “If” for the 4 year old?

I love that. I have also slept with stuffed animals at times in adulthood. Now, my bed is pretty full of children lol.

My 4 year old made it through the movie with the help of lots of snacks, but she was getting bored. I would not say I recommend it for preschoolers necessarily.

That’s kind of what I figured. Thank you for the insight—or better yet, thanks for being the guinea pig on that one. It’s so hard to gauge what will capture their attention and what will require 5 trips to the concessions. 🫠
