Thank you, Amber, for such an insightful article. It came at the right time, as I'm feeling a bit stuck, waiting for 'being ready' or the Universe to smile upon me. Your article was a good reminder of what I preach - about going back to my values, quieting the noise, and reconnecting to the Wise Mind. And thank you so much for including my post within your article!

You are very welcome! I was so glad to have a handy primer on values to refer too!

My daughter has BPD and the notion of the wise mind has helped her greatly! I like the tips you offer to anxious individuals.

I'm glad the tips are helpful! I used to work on a DBT treatment team and its such an amazing model. May I ask, do you have a resource that you have found particularly helpful in parenting a child with BPD? I am actually trying to round up some resources on this. I usually recommend "Loving Someone With BPD" by Sheri Manning. No pressure to respond, but thought I would ask!

Certainty is an illusion. The best writing/life advice I ever got is "Start before you feel ready!"

Yes! What is this "feeling ready" that people speak of? Never experienced it lol!

Thank you so much for sharing. My anxiety crowds my intuition often. She's so loud!

I really like the emotional permission slip metaphor Dr Amber. The emotions of readiness are really fascinating.

I love a good metaphor. The underlying concept is nothing new, but this metaphor really stuck for me and helps bring that lesson to mind right when I need it. I love calling it the "emotions of readiness", that is exactly what it is!
